What is sheltie skin syndrome?
Dermatomyositis is an inherited disease of the skin, muscles, and blood vessels that causes dramatic inflammation of these tissues in the body. The affected breeds are Collies, Shetland Sheepdogs, and dogs that are mixes of these breeds.
What does a Shetland Sheepdog look like?
The Shetland Sheepdog is a small, active, and agile herding dog standing between 13 and 16 inches at the shoulder. The coat, along with a long, wedge-shaped head; small, three-quarter erect ears; and deep-chested, level-backed torso, give Shelties the look of a rough-coated Collie in miniature.
