Most of the time, absolutely yes, they initially have a natural fear of us, display defensive postures, yet calm down more each day. The severely injured adults are dangerous and the young are immediately aware and afraid of us.
How long do dogs remember previous owners?
A Dog does NOT forget their owner after two weeks! There is no way that the dogs can ever forget their owners, not even after years. Their amazing smelling power and facial recognition helps to remember their owners as soon as they see them. They do not have any knowledge of time.

My dog Mayzie was rescued by Second Chance Animal Rescue in Colorado. At the time, she was approximately two years old and had spent her entire life at the end of a rope in someone’s backyard. She had little food and water and only the frame of a drawer for shelter.

Where did I get my first dog from?
