Give Vetoryl® capsules in the morning with food so that they can be easily absorbed. This also allows your veterinary surgeon to carry out monitoring tests at the appropriate time of day. Take your dog back to your veterinary surgeon for regular monitoring.
Why was Trilostane taken off the market?
This product was withdrawn from the U.S. market in April 1994. Trilostane produces suppression of the adrenal cortex by inhibiting enzymatic conversion of steroids by 3-beta-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase/delta 5,4 ketosteroid isomerase, thus blocking synthesis of adrenal steroids.
How long does it take for lysodren to work?
This medication should take effect within 1 to 2 days; however, effects are not always visibly obvious and therefore laboratory tests may be needed to evaluate this medication’s effectiveness.

The most common adverse reactions reported are poor/reduced appetite, vomiting, lethargy/dullness, diarrhea, and weakness. Occasionally, more serious reactions, including severe depression, hemorrhagic diarrhea, collapse, hypoadrenocortical crisis or adrenal necrosis/rupture may occur, and may result in death.
