I watched the fight over and over and it was clear Lyoto won. He had more technique than Rua. All Rua did was throw leg kicks, which did do some damage on Machida, but not enough to take him down or limit his movement. I think most people are outrages because of the one-sided commentary team. They should have been recognising Machida’s counter attacks. All in all it was a close fight, won by the original Champion: LYOTO “THE DRAGON” MACHIDA!

Before Lyoto got hit in the temple, Lyoto was slightly leading with knees and elbow and the take downs…

This is just like a Ice Man vs The Natural fight where the heavy hitter catches his opponent with one crucial blow…

Shogun is also a good fighter otherwise Lyoto would have just dominated the fight….

On to the next Lyoto!!!

This fight was very close in my eyes, and I do believe Machida won. I don’t see why people think Shogun should’ve won, he kicked Lyoto constantly in the leg so it was hard for Lyoto to attack. Lyoto had more Body and Head shots than Rua did.

Then in #2, Lyoto was definately winning the fight, but unfortunately got clipped on the temple and I’d say blacked out. But you were still winning that fight, most fighters have been knocked out.

But good job Lyoto.

Edward Coffee. While I agree the style is perhaps boring. Intellegent fighting isn’t always exciting. I remember in the early UFC days when Royce Gracie spend most of the fight comfortably controlling the fight from the gaurd it wasn’t exciting either. That’s what elusive strategy is avoiding your opponent from inflicting damage.

take it from me pilgum lyotos style is down right boring anoying and dull while it gets the job done over and again for this ol man it dont look very entertaning trust me kids if his next five opponets just stood in the middle o that octogan and just counter attaked or just ran around hed get a whole lotta frustrated there to the boy needs to open up some thats all there is to it ill go toe to toe fistycuffs with him any time oday win or lose even at 53 5″7 182lbs nyc im calln him out as my retiremet fight
