  2. Talk About MMA Says:

I really can’t wait to see this fight. Just a few more hours. I hope Machida wins this one. I have nothing against Shogun but I think Machida’s technique will help him bag the win.

  3. Horis Says:

  6. Scott Says:

If you have an ounce of respect for the disciplines involved in MMA you should vacate the title and denounce that victory. It wasn’t even close, you never had control of the fight and you sustained so much damage that you could barely get your gi back on. Do the honorable thing, you didn’t defend your title. Don’t participate in the robbery of Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, it is terrible for the sport.

  7. LIZARD Says:

TOTAL BS ON WINNING THE FIGHT AGAINST RUA, A REAL CHAMPION WOULD HAVE HANDED THE BELT OVER TO RUA AFTER GETTING YOUR ASS HANDED TO YOU 4 OUT OF 5 ROUNDS, I DON’T GIVE A CRAP WHAT FIGHT THE JUDGES WERE WATCHING BECAUSE YOU KNOW THEY WEREN’T WATHING YOUR FIGHT. YOU LOST FAIR AND SQUARE. BAD THING IS I CAN’T STAND RUA BUT RIGHT IS RIGHT AND WRONG IS WRONG , FESS OVER THE BELT TO THE REAL CHAMPION RUA LOSER.

  8. leonardo Says:

    Parabens.
    Leonardo Maroja

  9. Mike Little Says:

In my opinion, you lost hands down. 49-46, I barely gave you round three as you stole it in the last 20 seconds but also took a counter to the chin. You got an early Christmas present with this win. If I were you, I would request an automatic rematch and sell the LH belt on eBay and donate the proceeds to Shogun’s favorite charity as a good will gesture on beahalf of Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles and Helen Keller, the three ringside judges.

  10. Akkenth Says:

    Carissimos,

  11. BRUCE LEE Says:

YOU SUCK MACHIDA! YOU ARE NO WARRIOR! GIVE THAT BELT TO THE REAL CHAMP RUA!

  12. HAN SOLO Says:

Yeah! You got your ass beat and you know it! What a bitch!

  13. eric Says:

hi lyoto machida , youre a great champion . but in reality you lost a decision fight against rua. if you are a man of honor , you will relinguish your belt and handed it to the new champ mauricio shogun rua.

    god bless you lyoto…….

  15. marc paguinto Says:

i am one of lyoto’s biggest fan here in the philippines not just bcoz of his fighting skills, but also bcoz he is a true martial artist and true ambassador of the sport. i hope with his very close decision win over shogun taught him an early lesson on how to deal with fame and pressure. i love to see the dragon reign the ufc lightheavyweight division for a very, very long time. long live the dragon!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Drew Says:

The first time watching the fight,I felt so bad for both of the fighters, I thought Shogun was robbed by judges decision.

I wanted to leave my feelings out of it, so I decided to analyze the fight by watching it many times, and even put some of the action in slow motion.

I believe the first two rounds were so close, it could of went either way. Machida won the third round.

Shogun, was slightly ahead in 4th and 5th rounds.
Overall, Shogun did a great job of actually being able to hit machida. Even all the damage shogun had done to machida, this is still very low contact for such a sport such as mma.

Shogun did Not “BEAT” the champ, and Machida kept his composure and defended the belt.

  17. neila Says:

    Hey lyoto ,
I m black belt in shotokan but i not practice in club for years cause no club close my mentality. My approch of shotokan is same than your and in my country i not meet people like me.i saw that fight and comments here.
I think some of those who let comments here, should learn respect before have advice. But at least all that weakness and poor mind is funny to read
About the fight,i m agree with judges and your analyse
And i m agree with fact a rematch is necessary
Will not be easy, shogun is great fighter, but each time you will fight to defend your belt, not think you defend a belt, think you have to win it again, and if it was easy not interest in fight
Thanks to shogun to force you,to get stronger
One easy thing to do,to prepare is to be abble to defend low kick.Muay thai defense blockage is the best to do it,not exist in traditionnal shotokan but you know like me,it’s the best way in my opinion, maybe you have special reason to not did it.For the rest i trust in your work and strategy for next fight.
I see you like a brother, and i hope to meet and train with you one day
Would be great honor for me to participate to your preparation for shogun.I would not be technical help for you,you are much better and trained than me,just you would have a friend more in your side.

  19. Mike Says:

I have commented in another article here on this website.

To those who commented at the top of the page about Lyoto easily losing and that Shogun won.

It is not true. This fight could have gone either way. But Lyoto really badly damaged Shogun with vicious knees. Shogun badly damaged Lyoto to the legs with vicious kicks. Very close fight. Both fighters looked tired. But, Lyoto looked more tired. Still, the fight could have gone either way. It was too close.
